Le Mans crash ends trophy dreams for IPE drivers
[August 2003]
It proved to be an interesting year for the IPE boys who were in hot pursuit of the newly formed European Mini Champ trophy on classic circuits such as Magny Cours, Spa and Le Mans.

Le Mans crash ends trophy dreams for IPE drivers   Results swung from the highs of race wins at Zandvoort to the lows of unfinished races with bodywork damage meaning late nights in the workshop getting the car rebuilt between races.

It was the Le Mans meeting which finally ended any trophy dreams for the season as a major collision on lap 14 resulted in a total write-off of the IPE car, fortunately without injury to David Shannon who was driving the car at the time.

As there isn't much left of the car to photograph, the photo shows happier racing times.

In order to continue IPE's commitment and support to Midget racing, sponsorship for this season has moved to James Bilsland, who won his class in the UK Midget Championship in 2002, and now has set his sights on chasing European glory. To follow James's progress visit www.fisc-racing.com

We wish James a safe and successful driving season on the European circuits
