Incorporating Our Ethical Values Within Our Print Processes

Incorporating Our Ethical Values Within Our Print Processes

We are currently experiencing a significant movement towards the concern of sustainability and the future of our environment. Businesses are facing great pressures to implement environmentally conscious schemes to minimise their environmental impact, without compromise to the Return on Investment (ROI).

Our purpose of implementing widespread transparency throughout our operations and integrating environmentally conscious schemes is to ensure we can provide our clients with a high-level quality printing with minimal impact on the environment around us.

At Eclipse we pride ourselves with achieving continued FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certification since 2006, promoting eco-friendly print products from our sustainable paper stocks managed via our environmental management system keeping with our ISO14001 Environmental certification.

WHAT DOES AN FSC CERTIFICATION MEAN?

FSC provides global standards for forest management, covering environmental, social and economic aspects. Although, to expand further than the well-being of forest communities and ecosystems, we have branched out being recognised with a further PEFC and Chain of Custody accreditation.

FSC and PEFC are global, non-profit organisations with established certification systems that enable the facility to identify and purchase wood from well-managed, sustainable forests. In terms of the process of the controlled wood becoming later FSC certified, this controlled wood cannot be;

  • Harvested illegally
  • Harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights
  • Harvested in forests where high conservations values are threatened
  • Harvested in forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use
  • Harvested in forests where genetically modified trees are planted

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FSC AND PEFC?

The FSC system provides a way of tracking forest products through independently verified Chain of Custody certification. The system authorises the path that raw materials have travelled through the supply chain, from the forest to the consumer being identified and separated from non-controlled material.

PEFC focuses further than the tangible materials and places a greater emphasis on the entire forest supply chain to promote good practice in the forest. Additionally, to ensure timber and non-timber forest products are produced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards.

PEFC supports small landowners to gain recognition in the marketplace, making a lasting contribution to livelihoods and rural development.

DELIVERING OUR CLIENTS AN ETHICAL SUPPLY CHAIN

ISO14001 certification provides the framework to our Eclipse's environmental management system, enabling us to define our environmental policy, measure and monitor our environmental aspects and objectives which together define how we will be continuing our efforts to ultimately improve our environmental performance.
